Jessica Cohen is a proven leader, seasoned strategist, and dedicated advocate with decades of experience uniting diverse communities to drive meaningful change. As a progressive Democrat, she brings a deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and public service to everything she does.

Jessica currently serves as President of the Stonewall Democrats of Austin and Precinct Chair for Travis County Precinct 425. She is also a member of the Texas State Democratic Executive Committee, where she serves as the Vice President of the Texas Democratic Party’s LGBTQ Caucus. She plays a key role on the Resolutions and Convention Committees, helping shape the party’s platform and policy direction at the state level.

Jessica's Impact

Jessica’s long-standing dedication to civil rights has been shaped by both personal experience and public service. As a trans woman of over 25 years, she has firsthand knowledge of the challenges faced by minority communities in Texas, lending authenticity and depth to her advocacy. Her tenure as first Secretary, then President for the Stonewall Democrats of Austin, Vice President for Stonewall Texas, and Texas Congressional District 35 delegate to the 2024 Democratic National Convention has provided her with invaluable experience in legislative engagement and coalition-building. Regularly testifying before the Texas Legislature, she has sharpened her advocacy skills and gained national recognition as a fierce and articulate voice for equality.

In 2018, Jessica ran for Austin City Council (District 3), focusing her campaign on pressing issues such as affordability, housing, and land use. Her bold, solutions-driven approach reflected her unwavering commitment to public service and community well-being.
